PRESIDENT
Kawynia Williams-Turgott is a community-centered leader, lifelong learner, and passionate advocate for literacy, mental well-being, and creative empowerment. As a deeply engaged resident of Central Texas, she has spent years working alongside families, youth, and neighbors to build supportive spaces where learning and healing go hand in hand.Kawynia co-founded La Vida Flor, a wellness initiative grounded in holistic care that blends therapeutic practices with community support. Through La Vida Flor, she has delivered mindfulness-based programs, creative workshops, and wellness education that uplift emotional health and promote resilience across all ages.
Her dedication to ending the literacy crisis stems from her belief that reading and writing are essential tools for personal growth, expression, and opportunity. Kawynia brings this conviction into her work with Living Chapters Literary & Cultural Initiative, where she helps shape community literacy efforts that feel natural, joyful, and accessible from neighborhood tutoring and family reading events to culturally grounded creative experiences that spark confidence and belonging.
With a background in community service, mental health advocacy, and integrative wellness, Kawynia uses her expertise to bridge gaps between education, emotional support, and neighborhood connection. She is committed to being a useful tool and a steady presence helping individuals feel seen, heard, and equipped with the skills and self-worth to write their own life chapters.

Christopher Owusu
VICE PRESIDENT
Chrisptoher Owusu, a Founding Member, is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Psychology at Texas A&M University - Killeen and brings over 12 years of experience in the Killeen and Belton communities where he served primarily as a High School English teacher. His decade of classroom leadership provides Living Chapters with deep expertise in language instruction, curriculum development, and youth mentorship. Christopher’s professional experience anchors the initiative in proven educational practice and strengthens our mission to improve literacy outcomes for children and adults alike. -
Latoya Ocasio
TREASURER
Latoya Ocasio is a founding member of Living Chapters Literary and Cultural Initiative who supports wellness and movement programs for the elderly in the Killeen community. She chairs yoga for seniors and leads Zumba sessions that encourage social engagement, physical activity, and cognitive well being. Her community focused work helps create welcoming spaces where 1 elder at a time can remain active and connected to learning opportunities. Latoya dedication to chair yoga and dance fitness strengthens Living Chapters commitment to serving readers and participants across all ages while promoting dignity and lifelong participation in cultural life. -
